Hikmat Hajiyev: International partners to be involved in railway infrastructure projects in Nakhchivan as part of the Zangazur Corridor

This is the 20th visit of the diplomatic corps to Azerbaijan’s liberated territories – the Karabakh and East Zangazur regions, said Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in his statement to APA.

According to him, the representatives of the diplomatic corps familiarize themselves on-site with the restoration and construction works being carried out, as well as with the return of former internally displaced persons to their native lands and the revival of life there.

Hikmat Hajiyev stated that during this visit, foreign diplomats familiarized themselves with the reconstruction works carried out in the Jabrayil and Zangilan districts: “In addition, the representatives of the diplomatic corps also got acquainted on-site with the work carried out on the Azerbaijani segment of the Zangazur corridor and listened to briefings. In this respect, the visit is important for the diplomatic corps and the positions of the countries they represent.”

Hikmat Hajiyev noted that Azerbaijan has been continuing to intensively construct the section from Horadiz to Zangilan using its own resources since 2021: “The work is progressing rapidly, including the infrastructure of railways and highways, as well as tunnels. In the other segment, Armenia is carrying out this process on a bilateral basis with the United States. We are monitoring these processes. In addition, the involvement of international partners in railway infrastructure over a zone of more than 188 kilometers in the Nakhchivan segment is being considered.”
