“Islamophobia is spreading at an unbelievable pace and it is becoming widespread,” said Dodik Ariyanto, Head of the Islamphobia observatory at the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation), at a panel discussion titled “A call for global dialogue to encourage tolerance, peace and respect for human rights and religious diversity” within the framework of the international scientific conference on the “Embracing Diversity: Tackling Islamophobia in 2024” held in Baku, APA reports.

“Islamophobia is spreading at an unbelievable pace and is becoming widespread. There are statistics on this. Establishing the UN resolution and the day on Islamophobia is a progressive step. It is necessary to fight against discrimination and violence. We express gratitude to the countries and individuals who took determined steps in this direction. The UN resolution confirms the existence of Islamophobia at the global level, noted that this is an undeniable phenomenon. It is emphasized that Islamophobia is a manifestation of hatred, discrimination and intolerance,” he said.

He stated that the number of measures to combat Islamophobia should be increased, peace and tolerance should be promoted, and serious steps must be taken:

“Resolutions, documents should be approved in this direction.”
