"As a result of the French colonialist policy, a dramatic situation has arisen in Guyana today in the social, economic and other sectors,” Jean-Victor Castor, Member of the National Assembly of the French Republic (French Guyana) told journalists, APA reports.
He noted that France does not allow the Guyanese to use their natural resources and tries to impoverish the population.
Jean-Victor Castor noted that although the Guyanese unanimously voted for their autonomy, France refused to recognize it. The MP emphasized that France has rejected the desire of the Guyanese for self-determination even today.
“I reiterate that that France is a great colonial power, unfortunately, France still rejects our desire to determine our own destiny,” the MP added.
