The entire Rasht-Astara railway line will be opened in 4 months, Gilan Province Governor Hadi Haqshanas said in an interview with APA.
According to him, a 70-kilometer section of the Rasht-Astara railway line has been put into operation over the past seven months, the total length of the line is 162 kilometers, and 90 kilometers have already been opened.
"Only 70 kilometers remain. I think that the full opening of the Rasht-Astara line will be completed in the next four months. The Iranian government is determined in this matter," the governor noted.
Haqshanas added that since the line is being put into operation in stages, preparatory work for the installation of the rail equipment is also being carried out in parallel.
According to the governor, the contractor company that signed a contract with Russia will move on to the next stage after the line is fully put into operation. It was noted that the total construction period of the Rasht-Astara project is planned to be three years.
Hadi Hakshanas also said that a meeting of a trilateral commission with the participation of Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran was held in Baku last month:
“The meeting was attended by the deputy prime ministers of Azerbaijan and Russia, the Iranian Minister of Transport and myself. After the meeting, we traveled from Baku to Lankaran, and then to the city of Astara, and got acquainted with the implementation status of the project. The Iranian Minister of Transport gave relevant instructions to accelerate the work.”
