The Anaklia deep-sea port, the East-West highway, the Black Sea submarine cable, the Tbilisi International Airport project, and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway turn Georgia into a major trade and transport route between China and Europe, strengthen regional connections, and contribute to the development of economic cooperation, said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during his speech at the opening ceremony of the China International Import Expo, APA’s local bureau reports.
He stated that Georgia intends to strengthen its partnership with China and deepen cooperation in various fields.
Kobakhidze noted that Georgia is ready to continue cooperation to increase cargo transportation between China and Europe via the Middle Corridor.
“From January to August of this year, the number of containers transported between China and Georgia via the Middle Corridor increased by 71 percent. In addition, the volume of containers transported in 2024 increased 15 times in an annual comparison,” the Prime Minister added.
