Georgia continues to deepen cooperation with Azerbaijan, said Ilia Darchiashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia during his speech at the “Minister’s hour” format of parliament, APA’s local bureau reports.
“We keep deepening our cooperation in several directions based on the strategic partnership between the two countries. Azerbaijan and Georgia play a great role in increasing interest in the transport-communication corridor passing through their territories. Considering the new geopolitical situation, the importance of cargo transport through the Middle Corridor has significantly increased and intensive communication with Azerbaijan and Türkiye in this direction is continued. It should especially be noted that the next meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation has been held in Baku”, Darchiashvili noted.
The minister also drew attention to the fact that Georgia continues active cooperation within the framework of strategic relations with Türkiye.
The head of MFA added that important meetings were held between the two countries at the level of Prime Ministers and foreign ministers, as well as business visits at the level of deputy ministers.
Darchiashvili noted that political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries were resumed this year after a long break.
