France’s attempts will end in vain- Azerbaijani MP

“Azerbaijan shows consistent efforts to build lasting peace, and beneficial cooperation for all nations of the region. Unfortunately, some countries located far from the region try to prevent this initiation”- Member of the Parliament Soltan Mammadov told APA.

Soltan Mammadov said especially Frances's recent steps aim to slow down the normalization between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He noted that France has repeatedly tried to pass a resolution against Azerbaijan and biased documents were adopted at the parliamentary level: “State officials made completely non-objective statements. The reason for all these steps was to pressure Azerbaijan. The result was that France significantly lost its ability to influence the processes that were taking place in the South Caucasus. Because they couldn’t correctly asses the new realities that have arisen in the region, as well as Azerbaijan’s opportunities and the principles that our country's foreign policy is based on.

S. Mammadov emphasized that thanks to the professionalism of the special service agencies of Azerbaijan, France’s agent network’s exposure is another failure of Macron’s government.

Recalling that France embassy’s two employees were declared “persona-non-grata” by the Azerbaijani government due to their activities that did not correspond with their diplomatic status and contradicted the 1961 Vienna Convention “On Diplomatic Relations”, the MP said that this fact shows that official Paris did not come to the correct conclusion from its recent experience: “ Azerbaijan has declared multiple times at an official level that, the Attempts by countries far away from the region to interfere with what is happening in this geography are unacceptable. But the last process once again confirms that official Paris’s perceptions of not only the realities in the region but also the limits of their capabilities are wrong”.

MP noted that France’s attempts to obstruct the peace process will end in no vain. Because a new relations system that is formed in the South Caucasus, geopolitical realities show that the peace is unavoidable. He emphasized that France’s policy of breaking the peace talks by influencing the Armenian government by various means is doomed to failure.
