Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman Sayyid Badr ibn Hamad ibn Hammud Albusaidi within the framework of his official visit to the Sultanate of Oman, the MFA told APA.
The bilateral meeting continued later in a multilateral format.
During the meeting, topical issues and prospects of cooperation on the agenda of Azerbaijan-Oman bilateral and multilateral cooperation, as well as the regional situation, were discussed.
The current level of development of traditional friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Oman was highly appreciated, and the importance of intensifying mutual visits, ensuring regular political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and updating the bilateral legal and treaty base was emphasized.
It was noted that cooperation based on mutual trust and support within multilateral platforms such as the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is satisfactory.
The issues of economic cooperation were touched upon, and the possibilities of increasing the volume of bilateral trade turnover, stimulating mutual investments, implementing joint projects in energy, transport and communications, agriculture, water resources management, alternative energy, tourism, healthcare, and other areas were discussed.
Confidence was expressed that the establishment of the Azerbaijan-Oman Direct Investment Fund would make a significant contribution to the implementation of joint projects between our countries.
During the meeting, views were also exchanged on the situation in the Middle East, our country's steps towards ensuring peace and stability in the post-conflict period, as well as other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Later, the ministers signed the "Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Sultanate of Oman on Mutual Exemption from Visas for Holders of Diplomatic, Special and Service Passports" and the "Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman on Cooperation in the Consular Field".
On the same day, the foreign ministers attended the official opening ceremony of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, and got acquainted with the Embassy building.

A key milestone - the official opening of Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Muscat was highlighted, which will serve as a powerful new driver for interstate relations. The sides also commended their fruitful cooperation within the UN, Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and the OIC.
Moreover, the importance of close cooperation was emphasized in light of upcoming high-level events to be held in Azerbaijan in 2026, including the OIC Summit and World Urban Forum.
