On April 19, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel Eli Cohen within the framework of his visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, said Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, APA reports.
At the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the current level of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries, and it was pointed out that our country attaches great importance to the development of relations with the State of Israel and the expansion of successful cooperation in various fields.
The ministers exchanged views on issues of political, economic, including energy, education and research, high technologies, digitalization, tourism, humanitarian and many other fields, which are on the agenda of multifaceted cooperation. The activity of the Joint Commission between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the State of Israel held in Baku today was appreciated and confidence was expressed that it will contribute to the further diversification of relations.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke about the existence of relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State of Israel based on historical friendship and cooperation, as well as the importance of mutual visits and contacts between the two countries. In this regard, it was pointed out that the held meetings and discussions are important in terms of further deepening of our partnership, as well as further development of bilateral dialogue.
At the meeting, confidence was expressed that the opening of the embassy of our country in Israel will contribute to the strengthening of Azerbaijan-Israel relations, which have been developing in the last 30 years and have entered a new qualitative phase.
The parties expressed their readiness to further develop political dialogue at various levels on all directions of bilateral relations, as well as on international and regional issues.
During the meeting, other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
Within the framework of the visit, the ministers signed the "Cooperation program in the field of Education between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the State of Israel for the years 2023-2026".
