Recently, interest in the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) has increased significantly, said Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, at a press conference on the results of the year, APA reports.
“The attention to the Organization of Turkic States depends on the international weight of its members. Türkiye is the leading OTS country, and the growing influence of this country, as well as Azerbaijan’s increasing influence, contributes to the organization’s weight. Our country is no longer the Azerbaijan of 10–15 years ago. Considering Central Asia and the potential of this region, we can say that attention to the organization is gradually increasing. New countries are applying to cooperate with the OTS and to obtain observer status. Therefore, the OTS+ format was brought up at the Gabala summit. However, all of this causes irritation and sensitivity in some centers of power. Nevertheless, we believe there is no reason for this, and as member countries, we are determined to preserve, develop, and expand the positive dynamics of our cooperation to all areas,” Jeyhun Bayramov noted.
