TRIPP is turning the South Caucasus into a springboard for U.S.–Central Asia cooperation, said Kamran Bokhari, senior director of the Eurasian Security & Prosperity Portfolio, during his speech at the 1st Azerbaijan–U.S. Think Tanks Forum, APA reports.

“After the Second Karabakh War, the balance of power in the South Caucasus has changed significantly. In fact, the South Caucasus itself can turn into a geopolitical corridor. In this regard, the significance of the ‘Trump route’ is very great. This corridor is of exceptional importance not only for U.S.–Azerbaijan but also for U.S.–Central Asia cooperation. We are witnessing a decrease in Russia’s influence in this region. This is very good for Azerbaijan and allows Azerbaijan to express its position more comfortably. Events around Azerbaijan are developing very rapidly. This also promises great opportunities for relations between Baku and Washington. The changes taking place in Iran and Russia allow us to say this. Russia’s situation is clear, and Iran is on the verge of major changes. I think regional transformations will lead to the emergence of new opportunities in our relations,” Kamran Bokhari stated.
