On February 3, 2022, the foreign minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov has met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan told APA.
During the meeting, they expressed satisfaction with the level of development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary and exchanged views on prospects for cooperation on multilateral platforms, as well as regional issues.
It was noted at the meeting that bilateral relations between the two countries were successfully developing in various fields. The current political dialogue between the two countries has been highly evaluated and the importance of high-level reciprocal visits in further expanding our relations, which are developing in the spirit of strategic partnership, has been stressed.
The ministers highly evaluated the dynamics of cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, energy, education, humanitarian, tourism and other fields.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership signed between the two countries, as well as a number of other documents covering the economic sphere, formed an important basis for further expansion of economic cooperation. In this regard the role of intergovernmental joint commission in the expansion of our economic relations was stressed.
In turn, Peter Siatro expressed the determination of its country to expand relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary in many areas. He stressed that Hungary attaches great importance to the development of relations with friendly Azerbaijan and always respected territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The minister noted that Hungary is interested in the participation in the restoration and reconstruction of liberated lands of Azerbaijan.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the Hungarian side on the current situation in the region, issues related to the implementation of joint statements signed as a result of the 44-day war, post-conflict reconstruction and construction work, and ongoing infrastructure projects in the liberated areas. In this regard, the interest of Hungarian companies in the process of restoration and reconstruction of the liberated territories was highly assessed.
The parties also discussed other regional issues of mutual interest.
After the meeting, the Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the National Library of Azerbaijan named after MF Akhundov and the National Library of Hungary named after Széchényi.
