EU agrees to send mission to Armenian-Azerbaijani border-UPDATED

The ambassadors of member countries of the European Union have agreed to send civilian mission to Armenian-Azerbaijani border for strengthening confidence and contributing to delimitation, Armenian service of  Radio Liberty says citing diplomatic sources, APA reports.

It was noted that this decision was adopted at the meeting of Political and Security Commission held in a closed format. Currently, the details of the decision, especially how many people the mission will consist of, from which countries and the dates of their arrival in Armenia, are being discussed.

“The issue of European Union (EU) to send a civilian mission to the South Caucasus, Armenia and Azerbaijan border will be discussed tomorrow,” Toivo Klaar, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Georgian crisis, said on October 10 during the discussions in the European Parliament, APA reports.

“The decision of sending a civilian mission to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border should be adopted by the member states, this issue will be discussed at the Political and Security Committee tomorrow,” Klaar noted.
