"The number of embassies has increased in the Vatican since Pope Francis led the Vatican," Chairman of International and Inter-parliamentary Relations Committee of the Azerbaijani Parliament Samad Seyidov during discussions of the draft law "On establishment of Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Holy See" at the meeting of Parliament today, APA reports.
Deputy noted that Pope visited Azerbaijan in 2016: "President Ilham Aliyev and Mehriban Aliyeva also paid an official visit to the Vatican in February of 2020. Projects, carried out by Heydar Aliyev Foundation with the support of Mehriban Aliyeva, play a unique role in development of these relations. Establishment of Azerbaijan's Embassy to the Vatican is a clear example of the multicultural policy of Azerbaijan."
