Erdoğan: A window of opportunity has opened for lasting peace in the South Caucasus

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said while answering journalists’ questions on the plane during his return from Azerbaijan, APA's Turkiye bureau reports.

“I would like to express my gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who welcomed us with his sincere hospitality as always, and to the brotherly people of Azerbaijan who greeted us warmly,” Erdoğan said.

The Turkish President spoke with satisfaction about the ongoing reconstruction efforts in Karabakh and highly appreciated Azerbaijan’s efforts in the peace process. He stressed that a window of opportunity has opened for lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus: “After more than 30 years of instability, a window of opportunity has opened for permanent peace and security. The swift completion of the peace process will highlight Azerbaijan—not only as the victor of the war—but also as the architect of peace in the region.”
