ECHR demonstrates legal hypocrisy - Azerbaijani MP

"The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), once again demonstrating legal hypocrisy, issued a decision on the case of Narayan and Others v. Azerbaijan on December 16 of this year, and identified a so-called violation of the right to life provided by Article 2 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms," Member of the Parliament of Azerbaijan Nizami Safarov said at the meeting of Milli Majlis held today, APA reports.

Azerbaijani MP noted that the rights of the provocateurs are protected, not the right to life of Chingiz Gurbanov, the national hero of Azerbaijan, who was ambushed and martyred while preventing the provocation of the Armenian intelligence group at the state border: "The principles at the basis of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, including the principle of protecting the fundamental human rights, play the role of a normative filter in the implementation of international legal norms within the framework of the national legal system. No legal norms, or decisions of any international judicial body, which are contrary to the principles adopted by referendum, can be implemented by us."
