Diplomats and military attachés accredited to Azerbaijan visited Zangilan district

On December 10, representatives of diplomatic corps, as well as military attachés accredited to Azerbaijan visited the Zangilan district, APA reports.

About 150 visitors, including representatives of nearly 70 embassies based in Baku and Ankara, representatives of over 10 international organizations, ambassadors, military attachés, as well as representatives of relevant governmental agencies of Turkiye, arrived at the Zangilan International Airport.

Notably, the plane that landed from Ankara became the first international passenger flight to Zangilan International Airport, which was officially opened on October 20 by the heads of state of Azerbaijan and Turkiye.

Another first was in visa procedures. Thus, for the first time in Zangilan airport history, visas for foreign citizens were issued on the spot via the "ASAN Visa" system.

Diplomats and military attachés first familiarized themselves with the Zangilan International Airport. Director of the airport Vugar Hasanov informed the guests about the airport.

According to the President of Azerbaijan's Decree dated November 16, 2022, the visit continued with a briefing on the work done and upcoming plans within the framework of the 1st State Program on the Great Return to the Liberated Territories.

Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration, Hikmet Hajiyev gave detailed information about the history, demographic situation, strategic importance and economic potential of Zangilan and Gubadli regions, as well as the damage caused by the military occupation of Armenia for nearly 30 years.

Later, the chairman of the State Urban Planning and Architecture Committee, Anar Guliyev, made a presentation about the master plans of Zangilan and Gubadli cities.

After the briefing, the participants left for Zangilan city. The representative of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources informed them about the ecological terror and damage caused by Armenia and a number of foreign companies purposefully releasing waste into the river in the area where the road crosses the Okchuchay.

In Zangilan, participants got acquainted with the extent of Armenia's destruction and the restoration and reconstruction efforts that are currently underway, including the new mosque built by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, as well as the first residential building, school, and other projects.

Later, the foreign visitors who came to Agali village of Zangilan district were informed about the "Smart village" project, village infrastructure, Archimedes turbine type Hydroelectric Power Station.

The visit continued in the city of Gubadli. In Gubadli, the guests got acquainted with the restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the city destroyed by Armenia, and viewed the city center and implemented infrastructure projects.

At last, the ambassadors and leaders, other members of the diplomatic corps and military attachés, and representatives of the Republic of Turkiye's state institutions who participated in the visit were flown to Baku and Ankara on special charter flights from Zangilan International Airport.
