The bloody intervention of the Soviet Union could not stop Azerbaijan’s independence movement, said Turkish Nationalist Movement Party, Devlet Bahçeli, at a group meeting of the party, APA reports.

Devlet Bahçeli said that January 20 lives in the rich memory of the Turkish nation as a common echo of deep pain and suffering.

Bahçeli touched on the historical facts related to the January 20 tragedy and commemorated the victims of the tragedy.

"This armed intervention is a tragic day that has gone down in history as Black January. However, this barbaric intervention could not stop the Azerbaijani Turks' independence movement.

January 20, in addition to being one of the heaviest prices paid by the Azerbaijani people for independence, lives in the rich memory of the Turkish nation as a common echo of deep pain and suffering.

On the other hand, the 44-day Patriotic War that took place in 2020 witnessed the embodiment of freedom and justice that had been awaited with patience and faith for many years," Bahçeli emphasized in his speech.
