Belgium and the colonized countries must reach a final agreement, said Kitulu Aduyenzi, advisor at the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the United Arab Emirates, at the international conference “Belgian Colonialism: Recognition and Responsibility” held in Baku, APA reports.
“Belgium must pay concrete compensations to its former colonies. After that, we must reach a final agreement and find a sustainable solution. Belgium came to our country without our permission and killed our people. The history of colonialism must be taught correctly in schools in Belgium and in our country. Misconceptions among the Belgian people about the peoples of Congo and other colonized countries must be changed. Congo has unique characteristics, and we must better promote these characteristics,” emphasized Kitulu Aduyenzi.
