"As the conflict is resolved, the OSCE Minsk Group has become an unnecessary body," the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship, Member of the Azerbaijani Parliament's delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly Tahir Mirkishili told APA

T. Mirkishili said that the activity of the OSCE Minsk Group for 28 years was resultless, which is known to the Azerbaijani public: “Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev clearly stated his position at a meeting with the co-chairs who visited Baku after the Patriotic War. "Azerbaijan resolved the conflict itself by military-political means."

A member of the Azerbaijani delegation to the OSCE PA noted that one of the main objectives of Azerbaijan in the post-war period was to sell the new realities at the international level: As the head of state stressed at the meeting on the results of last year, these realities have already been accepted in the international arena. The international event held in Shusha revealed the actual position of the UN. The position, decisions, and resolutions of the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation are also known. The recent meeting of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office with the President of Azerbaijan and the statements after the meeting showed that the OSCE also accepted new realities.

T. Mirkishili recalled that in the current condition, the Minsk group and its co-chair's format is in fact in a non-functional situation: “Before a while, Russian side stated that the US and France suspended contacts with Russia within the framework of Minsk group. Igor Khoyayev was the Russian co-chair of the Minsk group. The appointment of Igor Khoyayev, Russian envoy on special tasks, to the post of the special representative on promotion over the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, shows that the Kremlin has moved away from the Minsk Group format and preferred the institution of special representation. The institution of special representation will deal exclusively with the issue of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. On the other side, co-chair of the OSCE Minsk group from France Bris Rockfeil also came to the region with a completely another status. Although Armenian officials and media introduced him as Minsk group co-chair, it was revealed that Rockfeil visited Yerevan not as a co-chair of the Minsk Group, but as a representative of French MFA on Eastern partnership. All of these mean that co-chair countries have also started to confess that the mandate of the Minsk group is de-facto invalid. In other words, the view of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev that the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group is de facto invalid is reaffirmed.”
