Chargé affairs of France in the Republic of Azerbaijan, Julien Le Lan, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and a protest note of MFA regarding the resolution adopted in the French Senate against Azerbaijan on November 15, 2022, was presented to him, APA reports citing the Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, it was noted that Azerbaijan strongly rejected the resolution adopted by the French Senate, which contains completely untrue, false, and slanderous provisions.
It was stated that the resolution is clearly provocative and once again demonstrates the pro-Armenian, biased, and one-sided position of France, which claims to contribute to the peace process.
It was emphasized that this step of France aims to deal a serious blow to the establishment of peace in the region, especially the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, based on mutual recognition and respect for each other's sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of borders, which our country insists on, and encourages revanchist forces that are against peace in the region.
It was noted that the mentioned resolution, alongside grossly violating norms and principles of international law, completely contradicts with the commitments within the framework of the agreement on friendship, mutual understanding, and cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of France (1993) especially 3rd unit of the second article.
At the meeting Azerbaijani side once again demanded insistently from the French side to refrain from steps and statements against Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity protected by international law and interfering with its internal affairs.
France's temporary chargé d'affaires said that he would deliver the request of the Azerbaijani side accordingly.
