Britain proud to raise cooperation with Azerbaijan to strategic level, trade envoy says

Azerbaijan’s role in shaping the Middle Corridor is opening up exciting opportunities, said Lord John Alderdice, the UK's Trade Envoy for Azerbaijan and Central Asia, who has concluded his visit to Azerbaijan, APA reports.

Noting that he had the opportunity to meet with President Ilham Aliyev and his counterparts from the Azerbaijani government, the trade envoy emphasized that these meetings were very productive: “One thing became clear that all of us are determined to develop UK–Azerbaijan cooperation across key sectors of the economy. I am proud that we are elevating our cooperation to the level of a strategic partnership.”

Lord Alderdice noted that Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom cooperate in many areas, from clean energy to Middle Corridor infrastructure, including economic diversification, education, and other fields: “Azerbaijan’s role in shaping the Middle Corridor, in particular, presents exciting opportunities. My visit to this country has shown me that there is much more we can achieve together as strategic partners. I am leaving Azerbaijan with great enthusiasm and optimism for UK–Azerbaijan relations.”
