The opening ceremony of the D-8 Media Forum themed “Promoting Dialogue, Cooperation and Regional Solidarity” is being held in Baku, APA reports.
Media representatives, diplomats and other participants from Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria and Türkiye are attending the event.
The D-8 Media Forum aims to create a platform for sharing views on various regional and global issues to build closer ties among member states and to highlight success stories that strengthen a common D-8 identity. The forum also intends to bring together journalists and media leaders to launch joint projects, exchange experiences and expand cross-border cooperation.
The forum will uphold high accuracy and ethical standards, positioning the media as a key tool contributing to social solidarity, security and economic development. Participants will develop coordinated strategies to combat disinformation through fact-checking partnerships, media literacy initiatives and the exchange of best practices—particularly in the digital sphere.
