Azerbaijan’s Permanent representative answered Mirzoyan: Armenia is the one hindering normal passage at Lachin road

“Armenia, who could not stomach the free come-and-go in Lachin border examination point, has made a new provocation on July 15, 2023, the passage point has been shot at and as a result one Azerbaijan border guard injured,” said Rovshan Sadigbayli, Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the OSCE, in an answer to Armenian FM in the meeting of the Permanent Council, APA reports.

According to the ambassador, along with it being an irresponsible step for Armenian forces to shoot at a road used by Armenian civilians living in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, this also endangers the lives of civilians using this road and hinders their passage: “Despite this provocation causes serious security problems, Azerbaijan has restored the work of checkpoint for medical purposes through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Yet efforts to exploit Lachin Road for illegal activity do not stop. On July 11, 2023, the State Border Service of Azerbaijan stated that there were attempts to smuggle various types of goods in vehicles of ICRC and it resulted in a temporary halt to the crossing from the checkpoint. The ICRC, which issued a statement on these events, once again demonstrated that the establishment of a supervisory facility to ensure transparency along the road was actually a delayed measure."
