On September 4, 2023, within the framework of his official visit to Hungary, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of this country, Peter Siyarto, APA reports citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The one-on-one meeting between Jeyhun Bayramov and Minister Peter Sziyarto continued with the participation of the delegations of both sides, and the first meeting of the Azerbaijan-Hungary Strategic Dialogue was held.
During the meeting, Azerbaijan-Hungary cooperation issues in bilateral and multilateral formats, as well as regional issues were exchanged. The importance and role of high-level mutual visits and political dialogue in the development of our relations was noted.
Opportunities for further expansion of relevant cooperation with Hungary in the fields of economy, trade, pharmaceuticals, culture, education, sports and other areas were discussed. It was emphasized that the partnership in the energy field plays a key role in our relations, and directions such as transport and logistics will make an additional contribution to our cooperation.
At the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov gave detailed information to the other side about the current regional situation and realities in the post-conflict period, Azerbaijan's normalization of relations with Armenia, the signing of a peace treaty, the opening of transport and communications in the region, as well as the efforts made in the direction of border delimitation.
It was stated that Armenia has continuously shown a non-constructive approach, committed military and political provocations, neglected its obligations, and until the establishment of the Lachin border control checkpoint, the Lachin road was misused for the continuation of military and mine threats. It was emphasized that Armenia has not completely removed the invading forces from the territory of our country.
In exchange for the peace agenda initiated by the Azerbaijani side, the constructive approach and relevant efforts of our country, the opposing side was informed about the contradictory and provocative position of Armenia.
In particular, it was noted that Armenia is hindering the reintegration efforts of the Armenian residents living in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan by all means and spreading false claims around the Lachin-Khankendi road. It was mentioned that Armenian residents pass through the Lachin road on a daily basis, and Azerbaijan proposed the use of the Aghdam-Khankendi road for the transportation of large loads to the area.
During the meeting, views were also exchanged on the large-scale reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, and gratitude was expressed to the other party for the interest shown by Hungary in this process.
Later, the two ministers signed the protocol of the 1st meeting of the Azerbaijan-Hungary Strategic Dialogue.
At the press briefing, the ministers made statements on the results of the meeting and answered the journalists' questions.
