"Our discussion takes place under the shadow of increased tension in international relations amidst the serious deterioration of the situation in and around Ukraine," said Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov while delivering a speech at the 49th Session of the UN Human Rights Council, APA reports.
"Azerbaijan deeply regrets the ongoing crisis that continues to cause significant casualties, in particular among civilians. Civilian lives and civilian infrastructure must be protected and safeguarded and human rights must be respected at all times.
The evolving humanitarian crisis on the ground requires expedient measures to alleviate the impact of the current situation on civilians.
Based on this concept, Azerbaijan has already sent medicines, medical equipment, and other basic humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people on a bilateral basis.
At this critical time, Azerbaijan repeats its call for dialogue without delay to prevent further escalation of the situation and emphasizes the need for direct talks between the parties," noted Azerbaijani FM.
