Azerbaijani PM, Russian Railways chief discuss strengthening regional transit potential

Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov received Oleg Belozyorov, Director General and Chairman of the Management Board of “Russian Railways” (RZD) JSC, the Cabinet of Ministers’ press service told APA.

During the meeting, the current state and development prospects of Azerbaijan–Russia economic cooperation in various directions were discussed.

Special attention was paid to cooperation in the transport and logistics sector, including between railways.

The importance of continuing joint efforts to increase the region’s transit potential was noted. In this context, the necessity of synchronously carrying out work on the development of infrastructure along the “North–South” international transport corridor and ensuring stable growth of cargo transportation along the route was emphasized.

Rovshan Rustamov, Chairman of “Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC, also participated in the meeting.
