Azerbaijani MP says lifting transit restrictions for Armenia proves peace agenda is being implemented

"At this very stage of foreign policy and internal processes, by removing all restrictions imposed on Armenian transit cargo through our territory after 30 years of occupation, Azerbaijan has shown that the peace agenda is not just on paper, but has already been put into practice," a member of the Parliament (Milli Majlis) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azer Badamov said at today's session of the Milli Majlis, APA reports.

Deputat deyib ki, bu prosesin qarşısını almağa çalışan qüvvələr xalqların rifahında deyil, onları siyasi alət kimi istifadə etməkdə, öz şəxsi ambisiyalarını reallaşdırmaqda maraqlıdır: “Qazaxıstanda səfərdə olarkən dövlət başçımız bildirdi ki, Zəngəzur dəhlizinin açılışı 2028-ci ilin sonuna qədər baş verə bilər.

The MP said that the forces trying to prevent this process are not interested in the well-being of the peoples, but in using them as a political tool and realizing their own personal ambitions: "During a visit to Kazakhstan, our head of state stated that the opening of the Zangezur corridor could take place by the end of 2028. If the Zangezur corridor means a new route of the Middle Corridor, then Azerbaijan is its central point. Both the realities and goals emanating from this center are strategic and are designed for the distant future. The commissioning of the Zangezur corridor will also increase the power of the Organization of Turkic States. At least because the physical separation that has been deliberately created in the Turkic world for many years will be eliminated. Also, the steps taken are designed to make a real contribution to the prospects for peace and cooperation in our region. Because the integration of peoples with each other goes through exchange and mutual economic interests."
