"The military provocation on the border on April 11 demonstrates that Armenia is deliberately attempting to aggravate the situation. The presence of a corps commander in a non-strategic object shows that this provocation was carried out under the direct orders of Armenia's military and political leadership," said Soltan Mammadov, Deputy of the Azerbaijani Parliament (Milli Majlis), APA reports.
The deputy said that the Armenian authorities have recently made contradictory remarks in an attempt to impede the peace process in general. He noted that Armenia's provocation cannot be deemed accidental at a time when talks are underway to normalize relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the idea of inviting the parties to Washington is being discussed: "This provocation should be weighed against the processes taking place in time and space. It is obvious that the Armenian administration is taking numerous attempts to avoid signing the peace treaty. The major goal is to shift full responsibility for the incident to Azerbaijan. However, due to the professionalism of our army and the flexibility of the relevant state organizations, this plan failed to be implemented."
