“We should try to avoid armed conflict in the future,” said the head of Azerbaijani delegation, chairman of Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship Tahir Mirkishili in his speech on geopolitical security at the committee meeting of EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly in Yerevan, APA reports.
T. Mirkishili noted that he visited his home in the liberated territories: “If you saw the condition of my house, you would understand how tragic it is, You would see what your soldiers did in our Motherland?!”
Azerbaijani deputy brought to attention that Agdam is called “Hiroshima of Caucasus”.
Touching upon human loss from both sides in the Second Karabakh war, T. Mirkishili stated that Azerbaijan does not want to see any revanchist attempts: “This conflict is not a future, but already past. Lets talk about what we want for the future. Achieving peace agreement would be a very good chance for our nations, for the development of the region.”
Emphasizing that the South Caucasus is a strategic place, located at the crossroads, Tahir Mirkishili said that Azerbaijani, Georgian and Armenian people know very well how to use resources: “The first meeting in 3+3 format was held in Moscow. This includes Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Turkey, Russia, and Iran. This is an important format for ensuring sustainable peace, economic development. If we think about global security, first of all, security within the countries should be ensured. Secondly, good relations should be established among the regional countries. For this reason, neighboring countries in the South Caucasus should respect each other's territorial integrity. We should respect each other.”
