In order to identify and help the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan affected by the earthquake in Turkiye, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Azerbaijani Embassy in Turkiye continue intensive cooperation with Operational Headquarters in the Consulates General in Istanbul and Kars, established by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye, Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Health and other institutions, APA reports citing the Azerbaijani MFA.
Since the earthquake, 513 Azerbaijani citizens and their close family members from other countries have been evacuated from the earthquake area to Azerbaijan.
The evacuation process continues in Kahramanmaras, Hatay, Adana, Malatya, Adiyaman, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Osmaniye, Kilis and Diyarbakır where the earthquake occurred.
At the same time, we would like to remind our citizens who are living or temporarily settled in the earthquake area and do not intend to be evacuated to the Republic of Azerbaijan that evacuation points have been established by gendarmerie units in the affected provinces for those who want to leave the affected areas (A list of evacuation locations is attached). The evacuation of those applying to these centers to safe parts of Turkiye is ensured via the ways considered most appropriate by Turkiye's relevant institutions.
Those who want to leave the disaster area in personal vehicles will be directed to shelters in the destination cities after notifying the local evacuation centers.
Verdiyev Shahin Nail oglu, a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan born in 2001, was discovered dead as a result of a search operation in Malatya.
This brings the total number of Azerbaijani citizens who died in the earthquake to six. Rest in peace!
