On July 31, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the chief adviser of the President of Türkiye, Akif Çağatay Kılıç, as part of his official visit to the Republic of Türkiye, APA reports citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, the existing cooperation between the two countries, as well as the current situation in the region, were discussed.
The alliance based on the Shusha Declaration and cooperation in regional formats between Azerbaijan and Türkiye have been expressed with satisfaction. The necessity of further expanding joint efforts within international organizations, particularly the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), was emphasized.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov drew attention to the emergence of new realities after the Patriotic War and the promotion of a peace agenda by Azerbaijan, creating opportunities for regional cooperation in the region. Besides, it was emphasized that it is necessary to open communications, including the Zangazur corridor.
The minister gave detailed information about the military-political provocations of Armenia against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. He said that in order to establish peace and stability in the region, it is necessary for Armenia to withdraw its illegal armed detachments from the territory of our country and refrain from provocative steps.
Chief Adviser Akif Çağatay Kılıç said today that successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in accordance with the philosophy of brotherly and friendly relations between the two countries contributes to the development and security of both countries, including the region.
During the meeting, opinions were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
