Azerbaijani Foreign Minister gave briefing for journalists in Switzerland-UPDATED

On the sidelines of the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan. Jeyhun Bayramov's working visit to Switzerland, briefing for Association des Correspondents Auprès des Nations Unies was organized, APA reports.

Speaking at the briefing, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the participants in detail about the current issues on the foreign policy agenda of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the current situation in the region during the post-conflict period, and the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and answered numerous questions from journalists.

Jeyhun Bayramov brought to attention that the provocations of the so-called regime created as a result of the occupation of our [Azerbaijan’s] territories by Armenia, under the name of "elections" held on September 9 are another blow against the efforts of dialogue with the representative of the Armenian residents.

He noted that in return for the constructive position and steps of Azerbaijan, it has been observed that the Armenian side commits continuous military and political provocations, acts against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan contrary to its obligations, continues mine threats, and conducts a smear campaign against Azerbaijan with baseless claims.

It was emphasized that the Armenian armed forces, which Armenia has not yet withdrawn from the territories of Azerbaijan, are a threat to peace and security in the region.

It was noted that despite the clarity of Azerbaijan's position and intentions from the first days of the end of the conflict, it is regrettable that a number of international actors, as well as media organizations, were deceived by Armenia's manipulations, including the "tense humanitarian situation" and "blockade" claims regarding the situation around the Lachin road, and became a tool of the campaign against Azerbaijan.

It was noted that foreign policy priorities, the bilateral and multilateral agenda of Azerbaijan, the post-conflict situation in the region and the state of normalization between Azerbaijan and Armenia were among the topics discussed.
