"It is more than one year that Azerbaijan has made a call for normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations at the highest level - at the level of head of state by taking into consideration remove of the fact of occupation," Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs told journalists, APA reports.

FM has noted that 5 basic principles were presented to the opposite side by the Azerbaijani side as the next step in February of 2022.

"Steps have been taken in this direction after that. A meeting was held on April 6 between Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders at the initiative of the President of the Council of Europe Charles Michel in Brussels. Foreign Ministers of both countries have been instructed on working on a peace treaty as a result of the meeting. The main point here is that the Armenian side has sounded an opinion that 5 basic principles presented by Azerbaijan are acceptable. At the same time, it has become more clear during the Brussels meeting. 5 basic principles, presented by the Azerbaijani side, are based on international law, they make up the basis of relations among neighboring countries as a rule. We consider it a very important step. We consider there are signs of a continuation of works in this direction," stressed FM.
