On June 21, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Secretary General of the OSCE, Helga Schmid, as part of his working visit to the United Kingdom, APA reports citing Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
Actual issues on the agenda of cooperation between Azerbaijan and OSCE, including regional issues, were discussed at the meeting.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said with satisfaction that our country, which supports effective multilateralism in the protection of international peace and security, cooperates in this direction with a number of international and regional organizations, including the OSCE.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side about the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, including Azerbaijan's efforts to normalize relations with Armenia and promote a peace agenda. It was noted that the constructive approach shown by Azerbaijan is faced with constant military-political provocations of Armenia. It was emphasized that despite the current challenges and difficulties, Azerbaijan is determined to continue its efforts towards establishing peace and security in the region.
Secretary-General Helga Schmid noted that the OSCE attaches great importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan and is interested in the further development of relations in this direction. The importance of activities aimed at establishing peace in the region and relieving tension was emphasized.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
