Azerbaijani FM informs the OIC Secretary-General about the provocations of Armenia

On April 18, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov held a phone conversation with the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told APA.

First of all, the sides expressed their best wishes and congratulations on the occasion of the coming holy Ramadan holiday and wished peace and prosperity to the entire Islamic world.

During the phone conversation, views were exchanged on the current opportunities for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the OIC, issues on the agenda and future prospects.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke about the useful and efficient cooperation of our country with the Organization and pointed out that this cooperation is successfully continued within the framework of both bilateral and international organizations.

Referring to the successful organization of joint events, the sides talked about the results of the 49th session of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the OIC held in Mauritania in March of this year, and adopted decisions and next steps.

During the phone conversation, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side about the steps taken on the peace agenda, talking about the ongoing efforts of Azerbaijan in the direction of eliminating the consequences of the past conflict, as well as strengthening peace and security in the region. He spoke about Armenia's provocations, which aggravated the situation in light of the positive steps taken by our country. It was emphasized with gratitude that the OIC has traditionally supported Azerbaijan's position of rights, territorial integrity and sovereignty based on international law.

In addition, minister Jeyhun Bayramov, who informed about the Azerbaijani government's projects for large-scale restoration and development of liberated territories, invited representatives from friendly and brotherly countries within the Organization to participate in the mentioned projects.

During the phone conversation, other issues of mutual interest were exchanged.
