"Smear campaigns against Azerbaijan are carried out in Armenia and other countries. It was important for us to meet with the ambassadors and give them information from the first source," Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov told journalists, APA reports.
The FM noted that the main purpose of the peaceful protest on the Shusha-Khankendi road is to prevent illegal activity.
The FM noted that the closing of Lachin road is not the case: "Yesterday's events confirmed it once again. It is also clear from the videos spread on social media that the peacekeeping contingent used that road, and the protesters, as well as representatives of our traffic police, created conditions for this. At the same time, these people used social media to contact people living in this area and shared their contacts. Both these people and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that they are ready to provide humanitarian aid. In several statements, Azerbaijan has been called on dialogues. And we showed the facts that the Azerbaijani side has always been open to dialogues and Azerbaijan was the side to push dialogues forward. Azerbaijan making numerous appeals regarding this issue in the last two months, holding a meeting on December 3, preparing a road map by relevant bodies and presenting it, and reaching an agreement on holding monitoring on December 10 again showed that the Azerbaijani side is always open to dialogues, supports to solve this issue cooperatively. Azerbaijan showed this tendency before too. In the process of laying down an alternative road to the Lachin corridor, communications were made with Armenian residents who live there, and some of their requests were considered. The same thing happened in the discussions about the Sarsang reservoir. We believe that there were no negative consequences."
