The Azerbaijani Embassy in Iran hosted a commemoration ceremony on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, APA's Tehran bureau reports.
According to the information, the ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran.
Then the ceremony participants commemorated with a minute of silence the memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide.
Speaking at the ceremony, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Tehran Ali Alizadeh read a statement of the ceremony.
The statement said that 5,379 residents of Khojaly were forcibly expelled during the Khojaly genocide. 1275 people were taken prisoner and hostage, 8 families were completely destroyed, and 613 people, including 106 women and 70 elderly people, were brutally tortured and killed.
