Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Estonia’s Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, who is visiting the country, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
The one‑on‑one meeting between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Minister Margus Tsahkna was followed by a expanded meeting with the participation of delegations from both sides.
During the meetings, current issues included in the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Estonia, as well as regional and global topics, were discussed.
An exchange of views took place on the continuation of political dialogue and reciprocal visits between our countries, strengthening the legal-contractual framework, as well as the intensification opportunities of inter-parliamentary contacts.
The importance of respecting and mutually supporting the legitimate interests of our countries within the framework of the UN, OSCE, and European Union institutions was emphasized. In this context, cooperation ties were reviewed.
The development prospects of economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Estonia were touched upon, and it was stated that there is great potential for increasing mutual trade and investments. The importance of cooperation between our countries in the field of education was also emphasized.
The importance of activating the work of the Azerbaijan-Estonia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was emphasized in order to fully benefit from the potential of cooperation in the fields of digital economy, renewable energy, and connectivity.
The large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation were discussed.
During the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his counterpart about the latest developments in the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process. In this context, the outcomes of the Washington Summit and the historical significance of the initialing of the peace agreement were highlighted.
The necessity of removing territorial claims against our country from the Armenian constitution for the establishment of lasting peace in the region and the signing of a peace agreement was emphasized.
After the meetings, a joint press conference was held, and the ministers made statements regarding the results of the talks.
