Azerbaijani Ambassador Gudsi Osmanov held meetings in Timisoara, Romania

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Romania Gudsi Osmanov visited the city of Timișoara, Romania, and met with the city's Mayor Dominic Fritz, leader of the Save Romania Union (USR) party, which is in the ruling coalition, the Press Service of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Romania told APA.

The meeting discussed possible cooperation opportunities, the establishment of new relations between Timișoara and Azerbaijan, and the development of bilateral economic cooperation.

Ambassador Gudsi Osmanov emphasizing the city’s multicultural character, openness to international cooperation, the active participation of young people in public life, and its distinctive, unique architecture noted that these made an important contribution to Timișoara receiving the status of European Capital of Culture in 2023, gaining international recognition, and highlighting its cultural potential.

He touched upon Azerbaijan–Romania relations and spoke about the mutual benefits of cooperation between the regions of the two countries.

Mayor Dominic Fritz expressed Timișoara’s commitment to the concept of “city diplomacy” and his interest in strengthening relations with Azerbaijan.

On the eve of Christmas, which is celebrated at the state level in Romania, and Saint Nicholas Day celebrated in the country, the ambassador visited the “Holy Three Hierarchs” church, built in the mid-20th century in Timișoara and considered one of Romania’s most important religious temples.

In addition, Gudsi Osmanov also visited the “Inokentsiu Klein” Retirement Home, which operates under the Timișoara Municipal Social Assistance Directorate.
