On September 21, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Executive Director of the UN-Habitat Program Maimunah Mohd Sharif as part of his participation in the high-level week of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, APA reports.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that Azerbaijan has established successful and productive cooperative relations with UN-Habitat and assessed the progress of the implementation of the "New Urban Agenda" in a number of events organized by UN-Habitat and its partners, including the 11th Session of the World Urban Forum. he emphasized that he participated in the high-level event of the UN General Assembly last year.
The organization of Azerbaijan National Urban Development Forum on "Sustainable Development Goals" and "New Urban Agenda" as the leading force of post-conflict recovery and reconstruction in October of last year was also noted with satisfaction. In addition, Azerbaijan jointly with UN-Habitat has organized a number of high-level events within the framework of "Urbanization Week" from September 29 of this year, including "Sustainable Cities as a Leading Force of Economic Development and the Fight against Inequality" in Zangilan and Baku from September 29 to October 1. ", it was said that the 2nd National Urban Planning Forum will be organized and it was emphasized that our country will host the World Habitat Day for the first time.
The Minister also touched upon the reconstruction and restoration works carried out in our territories freed from occupation after the 44-day Patriotic War and drew attention to the importance of the successful cooperation relations established with UN-Habitat in this direction.
