Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan mull draft Agreement on delimitation of Caspian seabed

On September 12-13, 2022, Baku hosted the next meeting of the Joint Working Group on the delimitation of the seabed of the Caspian Sea between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, APA reports citing the Foreign Ministry.

The delegation of Azerbaijan was led by the deputy minister of foreign affairs, the special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the border and the Caspian Sea issues, Khalaf Khalafov, and the Turkmen delegation by the director of the Caspian Sea Institute, the special representative of Turkmenistan on Caspian Sea issues, Murad Atajanov.

Representatives of relevant ministries and institutions of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the provisions of the draft Agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan on the delimitation of the seabed of the Caspian Sea.

The parties agreed to continue the process of negotiations on the delimitation of the Caspian seabed.
