Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Türkiye does not correspond to the pace of development of our countries, said Prime Minister Ali Asadov at the 12th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, APA reports.

Ali Asadov said that Türkiye is one of Azerbaijan’s main partners both in imports (3rd), exports (2nd), and bilateral trade turnover (2nd): “Recently, our trade turnover has slightly decreased due to objective reasons. In the 11 months of 2025, a decrease of 7.5 percent was recorded (5.2 billion USD). These figures do not correspond to the pace of development of our countries at all. Our existing economic potential and geographical advantages show that there are real and unused opportunities to raise the volume of trade turnover to a higher level. Increasing trade turnover is of strategic importance, and I am confident that today we will discuss this issue in detail. It is very important to analyze the results of the Preferential Trade Agreement and expand its scope. One of the main factors contributing to the increase in mutual trade is the import and export of agricultural products.”
