French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zacharie Gross has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan (MFA) on September 19, 2022, and during the meeting, a note of protest of the MFA has been presented to the French Ambassador regarding the attack on Azerbaijani Embassy in France by radical Armenian groups in the country a few days ago, press service of the MFA told APA.
At the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov brought to the attention of the opposite side the attack on the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Paris by a group consisting of radical extremist forces of the Armenian Diaspora in France is an obvious gross violation of French laws and generally recognized international legal norms.
It has been noted that the Embassy building suffered from material damage, a threat was caused to the activity of diplomatic representation and the lives of employees during the attack.
Deputy FM Khalaf Khalafov has resolutely protested against the creation of a condition for such actions of radical Armenian groups and non-prevention of them on time, expressed deep regret over the non-implementation of an obligation of provision of safety of diplomatic representations in accordance with the 1961 Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations by France.
At the same time, a comprehensive investigation of the vandalism act, which caused danger for diplomatic representation and its staff, by law-enforcement bodies of France, provision of relevant legal assessment, bringing guilty persons to responsibility, and provision of compensation of the damage have been required.
The French Ambassador has noted the incident against Azerbaijani Embassy is regretful. In relevance to the appeal of the Azerbaijani side, Ambassador has said that corresponding steps will be taken for a relevant legal assessment of the incident.
