"As noted in the information released by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, despite a reconnaissance-sabotage group of the Armenian armed forces attempting to advance into the territory of Azerbaijan, in order to commit provocative terrorist operations, Armenia's next provocation was suppressed and one member of the sabotage group was detained," Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan noted on its statement issued on August 16, APA reports.
"We consider and strongly condemn Armenia's ongoing military provocations on the same day as the UN Security Council meeting on the situation in the region as a continuation of the policy of manipulation," said the Ministry.
"We call on Armenia to refrain from provocative steps and statements that aggravate the situation in the region, interfering with Azerbaijan's internal affairs, and fulfill obligations which they took on, instead of attempting to confuse the international community.
The military and political leadership of Armenia directly bears all responsibility for the escalation of the situation in the region," reads the statement.
