On December 2, 2025, an initial introductory meeting was held at the administrative building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the volunteers admitted to the “Diplomacy Volunteers” group for 2025–2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.

The meeting was addressed by Aykhan Hajizade, Head of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Press Secretary, and Raman Mammadov, Head of the Personnel Department.

During the meeting, the volunteers were provided with detailed information about the activities and structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the activities of the “Diplomacy Volunteers” group operating under the Ministry, and the content of the program.

It was noted that, following the instruction of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, to involve volunteers in the activities of state institutions, the “Diplomacy Volunteers” group was established on June 1, 2019, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, consisting of students studying international relations and other related fields, including graduates. Since the establishment of the group, it was reported that 300 people have already graduated from the volunteer program.

In August of the current year, as a result of the announced admission process to the ranks of diplomacy volunteers, it was noted that more than 1,000 candidates registered for membership through the electronic system created on the Ministry’s official website (last year approximately 400 people applied), and based on the results of the online interview stage with candidates meeting the established requirements, 95 candidates were admitted to the ranks of diplomacy volunteers.

It was noted that within the framework of the 6-month volunteer program, it is planned to involve young people recruited into the ranks of volunteers in internships in the structural units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as training on various topics within the internship, including visits to a number of state institutions and liberated territories, in order to familiarize them with the structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, provide them with information that may be necessary in the work process, and instill practical skills in their activities.

It was noted that the main purpose of the organized program is to increase the volunteers’ awareness in the post-conflict period about our foreign policy priorities, the dynamics of our country’s bilateral and multilateral relations, regional and international initiatives, defense, energy security, transport and communications, climate change mitigation, parliamentary diplomacy, etc.; the restoration and reconstruction work carried out in the liberated territories; the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia; as well as directions considered essential knowledge and skills for young people who wish to become diplomats.
