"On a daily basis, dozens of Armenian residents of Azerbaijan are passing through the Lachin border checkpoint in both directions," Head of the Press Service Department of Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry, Aykhan Hajizada tweeted in response to Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia, OSCE Chairman-in-Office Bujar Osmani's X (Twitter) post, APA reports.
"Mr. Minister, like in any country, the passage through the border in Azerbaijan is well-regulated, and “free passage” is not envisaged anywhere. As far as the large quantity supply to the region is concerned, Azerbaijan has provided Aghdam-Khankandi road for these purposes, which could be used if no breach of agreement would happen by Armenians 10 days ago," Hajizada noted.
Recall that Bujar Osmani tweeted that he requested his personal representative to visit Lachin area and to report back on the current situation on the ground.
Osmani also called on granting free passage through Lachin corridor and also stressed the importance of opening other routes in parallel.
