Azerbaijan interested in accelerating work on the “Trump route”

On November 19, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Ms. Allison M. Hooker, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.

During the meeting, a broad exchange of views was held on the current state and development prospects of Azerbaijan–U.S. bilateral cooperation, the Azerbaijan–Armenia peace process, as well as regional and global security issues.

The agreements reached during the historic Washington meeting on August 8 were recalled with satisfaction, and the importance of joint efforts in the direction of developing the strategic partnership between the two countries was emphasized. The importance of strengthening cooperation in the areas of regional stability, energy security, and the expansion of transport corridors was highlighted. In this framework, it was noted that Azerbaijan is interested in expediting the work to be carried out by the United States under the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” in order to ensure an unhindered connection between the main part of Azerbaijan and its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The areas of activity of the Strategic Working Group between the two countries were reviewed for the purpose of preparing the Strategic Partnership Charter, which will serve to strengthen the strategic partnership in areas of mutual interest, and the importance of establishing an institutional framework for practical bilateral cooperation was emphasized.

The peace and stability agenda in the South Caucasus region, as well as the directions of activity for the upcoming period within bilateral and multilateral platforms, were discussed.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the opposite side about the steps taken within the normalization process and the reconstruction efforts in the post-conflict period.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on the situation in the Middle East and other regional issues of mutual interest.
