“Azerbaijan now has diplomatic relations with all 54 countries on the African continent,” Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev said, APA reports.
“A new stage in Azerbaijan-Africa relations! With the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Central African Republic, Azerbaijan has now established diplomatic relations with all 54 African countries. This opens up new opportunities for further expanding our partnership with the countries of the continent,” Yalchin Rafiyev noted.
Note that Azerbaijan has established diplomatic relations with 188 of the other 192 UN member states. This is one of the highest levels a country can achieve in terms of diplomatic relations. The countries with which Azerbaijan does not have diplomatic relations are Armenia, Cyprus, Tonga, and Kiribati.
A Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the Central African Republic was signed on September 23, 2026, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Central African Republic Foreign Minister Sylvie Baïpo-Temon.
