A Bureau meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly has been held in Stockholm today, the press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.
Vice President from Cyprus Irene Charalambides touched upon the migrant problem in Europe at the meeting.
The representative of Cyprus noted that Cyprus and Greece are under the direct influence of the migrant problem and large funds were spent for the solution of the problem. In the speech, Irene Charalambides has called for the transfer of billions of euros of aid allocated to Turkey to other countries in exchange for a more effective solution to the migrant problem.
MPs of Milli Majlis Azay Guliyev has protested against the issue raised by the representative of Cyprus and noted that such discrimination among the countries is unacceptable, as well as such a selective and bilateral approach is absolutely baseless. Azay Guliyev has mentioned that an unjust approach against Turkey where 4,5 mln refugees found shelter is unacceptable. This country has spent 40 bln dollars on the solution of refugee problems over the last 10 years and we can not underestimate this. In the end, Azay Guliyev has called on OSCE and EU countries to materially support Turkey in this important issue and share this heavy burden.
